Barbara Jean Meltzer (Sam) November 24, 1928-March 24, 2022 Barbara was welcomed into her eternal home of heaven in the early hours of March 24. She was at Hearthstone Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Medford OR at the time of her passing. Barbara was born in Valparaiso Indiana to Raymond and Myrtle Mohnssen, along with brother Raymond and sister Nancy. She had a half-brother Cleo. In May 1947, Barbara married Paul Sam in Indiana, with whom she had five children: Cheryl (Jerry) Wallace, Cindy Dawn, Paul Jr. (Brigitte) Sam, Tim (KC) Sam, and Chris (Nicholas) Sam. Barbara married Don Meltzer in 1990, who preceded her in death. Barbara was a longtime resident of Napa CA (1963-1977) and of the Rogue Valley (Ashland, Talent and Medford, 1977-2022). Barbara was very involved with the Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Napa and continued that involvement at the Alliance Bible Chapel in Ashland. She taught Sunday School, Summer Vacation Bible School, supported their missionaries, and was involved in their women's groups. Her involvement with the church, daily devotions and walk with God was evident to all who knew her. Barbara loved reading the bible and related devotionals, as well as exercising, gardening, eating healthy and attending high school basketball games. She often said being with kids is what kept her feeling young. Barbara is survived by her five children, ten grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter. Her children and extended family gathered on Mother's Day, Sunday May 8, 2022 to celebrate her life and spread her ashes. Her family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude for the love, care and support received by the good folks at Hearthstone Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Medford.
