Kenneth Jones

June 23, 1925 - August 1, 2021

Ken Jones, long time Rogue Valley resident, passed away Sunday, August 1, 2021 at Medford Asante Hospital at the age of 96. He was a good father, son, husband, grandfather and friend to many. He was born in Medford in 1925 and graduated from Medford High before enlisting in the U.S. Army Air Forces as a Cadet. He completed his training and became a Naval Flight Officer. After the war he married Laura Billings in 1945. Together they had four children, Barbara, Steve, Susan and Larry. After graduating from the University of Oregon he returned to the Rogue Valley to join his family in the S.C. Jones and Sons Insurance Company. He also was a licensed Tax Consultant, President of Stage Coach Properties and was a partner in the Ashland Bi-Mart shopping center. He enjoyed flying and volunteering for many organizations, including the Ashland Junior Chamber of Commerce. He was one of the founders of the Ashland Sister City Program, and enjoyed many trips to Mexico representing the City of Ashland and the Amigo Club. He was a life member of the Ashland Methodist Church and a founding member of the Board of Directors of the Rogue Valley Manor. He was also a Rotary Club member, a life member of the Ashland Elks Lodge and a former Ashland City Councilman. He was married to Laura for sixty-four years before she died in 2009. He was later remarried to Jacqueline Riggs. They shared many adventures in his last years. His family is grateful for the companionship they shared until his death. He his survived by his wife, four children and their spouses, eight grandchildren and several great grandchildren. He will be forever remembered and greatly missed.
